Hushbark Privacy Policy

Hushbark is built so that there is almost nothing to write here. The short version: your audio never leaves your phone, there is no account, and there is no Hushbark server.

What Hushbark does with audio

Hushbark listens through your phone’s microphone while a listening session is running, and only while the app is in the foreground. Audio is analysed on the device by a sound classifier that is bundled inside the app.

Audio is never uploaded. There is no server to upload it to.
When Hushbark detects a bark it saves a short clip of that moment to the app’s private storage on your phone so you can play it back in the Journal.
Those clips stay on your phone. Hushbark automatically deletes older clips, and you can delete everything at any time in Settings → Bark journal → Delete all data.
If you record your own voice command, that recording is also stored only on your phone.

Stopping the listening session stops microphone access immediately. Hushbark does not request permission to use the microphone in the background.

What Hushbark stores on your phone

Your dog’s name, breed and the answers you gave during setup.
Your settings: sensitivity, which sounds are in rotation, response length.
The bark journal: timestamps, the detected sound class, what preceded each bark, and the audio clips described above.

All of this lives in the app’s sandbox. Deleting the app removes it.

Purchases

Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are handled by Apple. Hushbark uses RevenueCat to check whether your purchase is active.

RevenueCat receives an anonymous identifier that it generates, plus the receipt Apple issues for your purchase. It does not receive your name, your email address, your dog’s name, your journal or any audio. RevenueCat’s privacy policy applies to that data.

Apple’s own handling of your purchase is covered by Apple’s privacy policy.

Analytics and tracking

Hushbark contains no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, and no tracking of any kind. Hushbark does not use the Advertising Identifier and does not ask for tracking permission.

Children

Hushbark is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it and the new version is published here.
